El proyecto busca validar en Colombia el instrumento Second victim experience and support tool SVEST para valorar el impacto de los eventos adversos en segundas víctimas. Description: Introduction: The practice of healthcare professionals often involves their direct or indirect participation in adverse events, which can lead to psychosocial consequences affecting their job performance. This makes them the second victims of adverse events. Objective: To validate the SVEST instrument in Colombia for assessing the impact of adverse events on second victims. Methodology: This is a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional, non-experimental study. The SVEST consists of 9 dimensions with 29 items that measure psychological stress, physical stress, colleague support, supervisor support, institutional support, non-work-related support, and professional self-efficacy, as well as two outcome variables such as intentions to change and absenteeism. Permission will be requested from the authors to use the instrument validated in Argentina, from which the original instrument will be backtranslated and culturally adapted. The instrument will be consolidated by an expert committee and then pre-tested. Content validity will be performed, and the test will be applied. The results will verify the reliability of the instrument, the internal consistency of the dimensions with Cronbach’s alpha, and subsequently, the test-retest reliability will be evaluated with Cohen’s Kappa index. Data will be processed using SPSS software version 21. Criterion validity will continue to be evaluated by assessing specificity, sensitivity, positive predictive value, and construct validity. Expected Results: It is expected that at the end of the research, a culturally adapted, validated, and reliable SVEST questionnaire will be delivered for studying second victims of adverse events in the Colombian population.
